Every journeys start has a story of its own. Once upon a time there was a girl who left on a spiritual pilgrimage......
SAN DIEGO AIRPORT
God's grace was evident from the start. My Lyft driver called me to ask what terminal I was in to pick me up. I laughed and told him I was at home waiting for him to take me to the airport. The poor guy was so embarrassed. For me it was the greatest opportunity to be an ambassador for Christ and show him peace. Thank you Lord in giving me this blessing from the get go - we had a great talk all the way to the airport.
I began receiving texts from family and friends wishing me safe travels and that they are praying for me around 6 am. I am keenly aware that without prayers for me this trip it will not be as rich as it will be with your prayers. Please pray for me.
My dad and I have a ritual of praying together before each flight. This morning was no different. His prayer for me was kind and loving. I am grateful for my parents.
It was not until a few years ago I discovered the importance of prayer. The Lord reached out to me in a special way and in a flash I knew that prayer is the only way to accomplish anything. While I had that knowledge it did not dawn on me to ask to be prayed for and over. The importance of asking for prayers was made aware to me last week in the form of a yearning to be brought to our Lord on the wings of prayers. Taking prayers with me was crucial, however, I am reaching out to every shred of possibility to be prayed for during this trip. I am certain that through others prayers I will encounter Christ more deeply. If you have not already, please send me your needed prayers and please remember me in your prayers.
I said the rosary on the flight. As I pondered Mary’s yes I reiterated to our Lord my own yes to be an instrument of His will. During the visitation I was excited to let Mary know I was leaping with joy to visit her, the nativity I prayed for our Lords spirit to be reborn in me every day, for the presentation and finding in the temple I hoped that this is where I would always go to and be found.
SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT
My uncle called me while I was waiting in San Francisco for the flight to London and I told him about the Beatles mural on the wall. I learned that my grandparents flew to America on the same flight as the Beatles. It seems that I come from a long line of family members who have a unique ability to be at the right place at the right time.
The graces prior to departure have continued. I was wandering around the airport looking for bread. Having read the messages from Medjugorje, I decided to fast on bread and water once I get on the plane until I arrive at my first shrine. As I was searching for a place to buy bread an airport employee asked if I needed help. I explained I was fasting and in search of bread and she was curious why. I told her, “I am catholic and I am carrying prayers to our Blessed Mother and as a part of my faith practices I am fasting on bread and water to magnify those prayers” Turns out she was catholic too and her best friend is suffering from breast cancer. Thank you Jesus for giving me more prayers to bring to you.
The blessings continued. As I approached each eatery they did not have bread for sale. In fact they gave me an odd look as if they were thinking, “who buys just bread at the airport?” Undeterred, knowing anything is possible with God I approached a sandwich restaurant and asked if I could buy just bread. The man said he would sell me a baguette or two. I bought two. He wrapped them up so nicely for me I thought this was something they sold all the time. Other employees asked him what he was doing and he told them she wants bread, I am giving her bread. Jesus always provides.
For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. He guards the path of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. Then you will understand what is right, just and fair and you will find the right way to go. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy.
Next stop the UK.
