In 3 days I will be on an international flight. Wow! Entering into the rosary today I thanked our Lord for giving me foreign-born parents that allowed me to have a European passport. I thanked Him again for the love and support my parents gave and continue to give me that provides me with the confidence to travel. And most importantly the love they showed me throughout my whole life stands as a platform for learning to love God.
I moved through the rosary fairly quickly today. Until the mystery of the crucifixion. I often ask our Lord why I feel joy and not the sorrow of this moment and why I feel sorrow at the ascension instead of joy? On the surface it seems obvious, however, with our Lord, everything leads to something deeper.
While contemplating these questions the most wonderful, warm, and joyful sensation ran through me. As I passed each person on my hike I saw that Jesus died for him, for her, for him too, etc. As I passed the homeless asleep in Balboa park I tiptoed not to wake them and Jesus whispered, especially for them.
All of a sudden I had the biggest grin on my face and everyone I passed had the light of God within them. As I said ‘good morning’ I would be greeted with the most radiant smiles. I was getting choked up with each person I passed and gentle tears welled up under my sunglasses. As my friend, Annie would say, ”I experienced full-body joy.”
"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ and manifests through us the odor of the knowledge of Him in every place." 2 Corinthians 2:14
The wisdom our Lord imparted to me today was always be grateful, never, ever, ever complain or speak poorly about anything. When I speak even the smallest of negativity I negate the crucifixion. All the pain and suffering he went through in his passion is thrown aside when I treat any person or circumstance with anything less than gratitude. From all things, the grace of the resurrection will come and fill me if I go forth in gratitude.
“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” Ephesians 4:29
